Lien Recovery
Ms. Maurer is the managing partner of the lien division. A graduate of John F. Kennedy School of Law, and a member of the California State Bar, she has been associated with the firm for over 12 years.
The lien division, specializing in workers compensation medical provider liens, is the latest addition to the firm. It was launched after California SB 899, when the ability of injured workers to obtain their free choice of medical care was significantly impacted. The reforms created a great deal of confusion and problems with delivery of medical care for injured workers. Medical providers who maintained their patient responsibilities after the reforms, found themselves with a backlog of accounts receivables when the insurance carriers in some cases refused to pay for any treatment. Lien filings went up as medical providers attempted to navigate new waters post SB 899.
Ms. Maurer has developed the lien division into a successful compliment to the other two divisions of the firm. Injured California workers need medical care. Medical providers need assistance to get fair compensation for the reasonable services rendered on behalf of injured workers.
