Temporary Disability
This is compensation for the time you are unable to work as a result of your work injury. You are paid this money, which is approximately 2/3rds of your actual weekly earnings, up to a certain maximum, while an authorized treating doctor certifies that you are unable to work. These payments will stop when the insurance company doctor or your primary treating doctor releases you to return to work.
It is important to return to work as soon as you can. It is entirely okay to return to work prior to settling your case. Although you cannot receive both work income and temporary disability payments, you can continue to receive medical care and permanent disability payments after you have returned to work. You will need to be sure that returning to work is consistent with your work restrictions and approved by your doctor.
